NAOOA Membership Application

Instructions

Any entity that meets the requirements for Regular, Distributor, Broker/Agent, Association or Associate membership shall be accepted for membership upon: completion of the membership application and payment of appropriate fees in advance; approval of such application by the Executive Committee; satisfactory completion of tests of relevant products according to IOC standards and label review for Regular membership and Distributor applicants. All members are required: to commit to trade only in olive oils and olive-pomace oils that comply with the standards of the International Olive Oil Council; to abide by the Bylaws and Labeling Guide of the NAOOA; to submit products for random testing and label review; and, for Distributor applicants, to certify that aggregate sales of private label and control label olive oil products are less than 25% of total company sales.

Introductory membership (one year) is available only to companies that have never been a member of the NAOOA or have not been a member for at least five years. Members in this category do not have voting rights and may not use the NAOOA Seal on their product labels.

Annual dues depend on applicant's olive oil sales in North America.

In addition, Regular members are subject to annual assessments based on annual volume sales by channel of trade. Please inquire if you wish more information about assessments which typically impact larger companies.

Distributor Memberships are only open to distributors whose principal business involves the sale of many different products under the brands of many different companies, including olive oil, as provided in more detail in the bylaws.

Retailer Memberships are only open to retailers whose principal business involves the sale of many different products under the brands of many different companies, including olive oil, as provided in more detail in the bylaws.

This classification is only open to companies who do not market olive oil under their own brand name. Brokers/Agents may not use the NAOOA Seal.

This classification is only open to companies that sell olive oilrelated products or that provide a service to the industry, such as banks, customs brokers, insurance providers, law firms, laboratories, promotion agencies, warehouses, etc.
